7 Dots Studio September challenge...New Beginnings!

It's time for another Challenge over at 7 Dots studio!!
This months theme of "New Beginnings" inspired me to scrap this picture of my sweet girl on her first day of school! I used papers and tags from the beautiful Cold Country Collection. For my background I did some stamping with 7 Dots Stamps(love them) and added a little color with mists and gelatos.

Wood Sign Tutorial and 7 Dots Studio!

Hi everyone...not sure whats going on with my blog but for some reason my posts aren't being published.
Today I'm going to show you just how diverse the beautiful 7 Dots Collection are!
Yes they are amazing for layouts, tags and cards but today I going to share a tutorial on something a little different and very easy to make!

This a wood sign that now sits in my kitchen and I thought the quote was cute!

OK...time to share the process. If you dont have the same supplies, there are lots of ways to improvise!
  1. I started out with a old piece of Pine board with jagged edges and it measured 11.25" x 5.5". You can use whatever size you like!
2. I then stained the board with Dark Walnut stain that I had on hand but it would also look great painted with your favorite color or a color that coordinates with your decor. Allow to dry.

3. I choose to use the "Cotton" paper from the Nature walk Collection because of it's beautiful neutral color and pattern.
4. Because of the jagged edges, I placed the board top side down onto the paper and traced the shape with a pencil. Remember that the side of the paper you want to show must also be facing down.(I learned that one the hard way :)
5.I then cut slightly smaller than the drawn line because I wanted the wood edge to show.
 6. Ink the edges of the paper. I used Prima inks Old Road and Dy Sand.
 7. Using a sponge brush, apply a generous coat of Mod Podge to the board.

 8. While the glue is still wet, apply the paper to the board and smooth out any bubbles with an old credit card. Then apply another coat of mod Podge to the top of the paper and let dry

9. I then used my Silhouette Cameo and designed this quote. If you dont have a cutting machine you can also use all those Alpha stickers you have in your stash. Or if you are really good(I am not) do it by hand!
I used vinyl but you can also use cardstock .
10. Transfer the quote to the board. I then added more ink to the edges and blended with the board.
I then added a jute bow along the bottom and all done. You can also embellish with flowers or with whatever your heart desires.
Here it is sitting on my ladder shelf in the kitchen

I hope you are inspired by my easy tutorial and Happy Scrapping!!

7 Dots Studio Altered Box

Hi I am sharing how I altered this wooden box from the Dollar Store using one sheet of the Musical Blooms paper from the Nature Walk Collection.
After adding paint and crackle paste to the lid and bottom I cut the paper to fit the sides and glued with Mod Podge. I then inked the edges and added some stamping using the script stamp from the Cold Country Collection and finished it off with a bit of color.
For the top, I cut the same paper to fit the clear glass opening and stamped the edges with the corner flourish stamp in the Illumination set.
I cut the butterfly from a Nature Walk tag and the "Perfect Memories" were taken from the word Sticker sheets. You will always find just what you are looking for in those wonderful word sheets!

A Little Fall Decor and Petaloo!

I just love this time of the year and the beautiful colors of Autumn!
I have had this lantern for what seems like forever and decided it was time to jazz it up a little with some beautiful flowers and leaves from Petaloo!
I added some burlap and wheat from my stash and placed the Petaloo flowers on top to create a cluster. I also cut pumpkins and owls from the Graphic 45 An Eerie Tale to tuck amongst the flowers here and there. The rolled roses were also made from the papers in the 6x6 An Eerie Tale paper pad.   Here are a few closeups...

Back to School With Petaloo!

Hi everyone... back with you today to share another Petaloo "Back to School" Project.
This time I am sharing a layout of my sweet girl and her first day of school last year. It will only be a couple of weeks and I will be taking another of those photos....time goes so fast!
Grade 9
I started with a sheet of white Core'dinations cardstock and used another sheet of white to cut strips to layer under my photo. I alternated those strips with pieces of Petaloo Fancy Trims from the white collection.
I then added layers of molding paste, stamps and mists. The flower clusters consists of beautiful flowers from the Darjeeling Collections ranging in the different sizes. Here are a few closeups...

I sanded the edges of the Core'dinations tags using the Sand It tool and tucked beneath my phote. Love how it gave the tags a "denim" look.
